Kosovo joins Regional Boycott against Soaring Prices

Inspired by growing consumer activism across the Balkans, Kosovo citizens are organizing a one-day boycott on February 10 to protest soaring prices of essential goods. The action, led by the Facebook group ‘KOSOVA BOJKOTON,’ is part of a broader regional movement, following similar protests in Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and North Macedonia. The boycott targets major retail chains, with local businesses and markets exempt from the protest, encouraging support for these alternatives instead.
Kosovo’s inflation crisis has worsened over the past year, with essential goods’ prices outpacing wage growth. According to the Kosovo Agency of Statistics, inflation surged to 14.2% in July 2025, driven by higher transport costs and energy prices. While inflation moderated to 4.9% by September, essentials remain unaffordable for many, with significant price hikes across food, fuel, and transport services.
